Interesting when magazines come out a group of 5-6 girls decend on SF Kinokuniya and we snatch up copies of things we see. ^^;;; (Scary when we have like 3-4 telephone books.)
Anyways here's another installment of Not on the Shelf:
Preetia - this manga is cool, its part the story is this facinating combination of part magical girl, part Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and part Cinderella. Oh and 4 of the dwarves are quite tall bishounens. ^^ But also its very distinct in its characters and the art. Himeko the main character is a very genki girl that tries to do her best in the face of adversity. Very typical "main girl character with heart" kind of girl. ^^;;
Gan Gan Wing 1 - this is the first telephone book I ever got of this publisher. They run Kagerou Nostalgia and Mahoujin Guru Guru (and some other things I haven't gotten sucked into ^^;;) I mostly picked it up for the chapter of Kagerou Nostalgia.
Mikan no Tsuki 1-3 - I'm rereading this series for chapter/manga summaries. ^^ I'll prolly have a summary of vol 1 up by the end of January. But the legend behind the story is interesting (I don't know if its made up or if its real but its cool anyways). The story revolves around a princess and a demon. When they were children in the princess's home, the princess made a false promise to the demon that they would always be together and marry one day. Years later the princess forgot about the promise, she only remembered it as a dream (I think that's how it went ^^;;) And she met the emperor and married him instead. The Demon remembered the promise and was angry and sent out various hordes of demons. In the end the demon was killed and the princess stayed married to the emperor.
This is interesting because in the story, Mitsuru (the Tengu Oni) wants to kill the reincarnation of the princess who happens to be Mahiru. Mahiru comes from the legendary princess's bloodline. I think this is why Mitsuru inherently wants to kill Mahiru. Ironically the Tengu is one of the oldest mythical beasts of Japan. I think Mitsuru and Mahiru are the reincarnatios of the Princess and the Demon in the legend. Its sort of alluded to in the story. ^^;; Katie a friend of mine thinks the story itself is in for a change soon (I think so too looking at the recent Asuka chapters. ^^;;)
